Types of Jewelry We Can Appraise
We can appraise jewelry from other designers and stores, antiques and period pieces in current condition or after repairs and restoration.
Appraisals include cleaning and polishing.
Diamonds, Rubies, Emeralds, Sapphires, Pearls and other Gemstones. Platinum, Gold, Silver and Contemporary Metals. Watches, Pocket and Pendant Watches (current models, vintage styles and antiques).
Appointments
We recommend an appointment to discuss your appraisal requirements; however, items can be left for appraisal without an appointment. Most appraisals are completed within two weeks time and express service is available on three or fewer items.
Fees
Appraisal fees start at $150.00 for the first item. Charges for additional items are based upon time and depth of information required and lab fees for metal testing and gemstone identification.
Appraiser Qualifications and Background
Monte Franzetti has been appraising fine jewelry since 1975. As a Master IJO Jeweler he stays informed of current trends in the diamond, gemstone & precious metal markets.
He does appraisals of current jewelry styles as well as antique & period pieces. He will expertly determine the replacement value of your jewelry using exacting methods of calibration and comparable item pricing. Professional documents and photographs will be provided for insurance purposes, estate settlement or distribution.
Monte is a fourth generation Austinite with an extensive early jewelry career with The Traditional Jewelers of America, from 1975 until 1986. During this time he supervised and designed for Stelfox Jewelers in Austin Texas, Linz Jewelers in San Antonio Texas, Sweeney's Jewelers in Brownsville, Harlingen, McAllen and Laredo Texas. In Florida Monte oversaw Lawtons Jewelers in Miami, Winter Park and Orlando. All of these stores were authorized Rolex, Piaget, Omega, Baume & Mercier and Movado watch dealers. Furthermore, he was trained by Cartier for their installation of six Cartier Les Must Boutiques within Sweeney's Jewelers. He often assisted US Custom authorities on the Mexican border and Miami in identifying counterfeit watches which they had confiscated.
Monte studied the designs of Benvenuto Cellini, Louis Cartier and Carl Fabregé and he taught classic design principles of Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Rococo and architectural inspired jewelry designs. He also has extensive knowledge of the historical influence of the Egyptian, Etruscan and Greek design styles.

• Diamond & Gemstone Setting & Replacement
We can set diamonds and colored gemstones for you in many different setting styles. We can also match and replace missing diamonds or other gemstones that have been lost or come out of their settings. We would also be happy to inspect and clean your jewelry items to determine if any settings need to have prongs repaired, need to be re-tipped or repair any worn thin bezels and channels.
• Ring Sizing
Whether it's white gold, yellow gold, platinum or sterling silver we can size most rings smaller or larger.
• Chain & Bracelet Repairs
We are happy to work on your broken chains, necklaces or bracelets.
• Pearl & Bead Stringing
We offer pearl, gemstone and bead stringing with both knotted and straight stringing techniques.
